Kristen Bell to Star and Produce Comedy Thriller
Hollywoodreporter.com: Kristen Bell is going from The Good Place to a streaming place.
Bell will star in and executive produce a Netflix limited series called The Woman in the House. The eight-episode series, from Gloria Sanchez Productions, is a comedic take on thrillers like The Woman in the Window and The Girl on the Train.
Bell will play a heartbroken woman named Anna, for whom every day is the same: She sits with her wine, staring out the window and watching life go by without her. When a handsome neighbor moves in across the street, she starts to see a light at the end of the tunnel — until she witnesses a gruesome murder (or does she)?
The Woman in the House comes from creators Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson and Larry Dorf (Mike Tyson Mysteries, Nobodies), who will also serve as co-showrunners. The trio executive produces with Bell and Gloria Sanchez's Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Brittney Segal. Marti Noxon (Sharp Objects, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) will serve as a creative consultant.
Bell is coming off The Good Place, which ended its four-season run on NBC early this year (and now streams on Netflix). In June, she ceded her role in Apple's animated series Central Park, where she voiced a biracial character, saying an actress of color should play the part. Emmy Raver-Lampman was later cast in the role, and Bell will continue to be part of the series. Her other recent credits include Hulu's Veronica Mars revival and feature film Queenpins.
