mediaexpress.reuters.com: Singer Katy Perry was honored in Beverly Hills on Thursday (October 18) with amfAR's Award of Courage at a star-studded gala. The singer was praised for her commitment to the fight against AIDS as well as her other humanitarian causes.
Speaking at the event, she told the audience members, which included Orlando Bloom, Robin Thicke, Robert Pattinson and Heidi Klum, "Since 1985, amfAR has done such incredible life-saving work leading the fight against HIV and AIDS. I can't tell you how humbled and honored I feel to be in the company of so many beautiful souls tonight who have dedicated their lives to this mission.
I am forever inspired by your commitment and with my whole I heart I thank you for bestowing on me this courage award." An auction was held after the proceedings to raise money for AIDS/HIV research.
The lots included a day out at Disneyland with Perry, a golf outing with actor Andy Garcia and an invitation to the 2019 Monaco ePrix as a guest of Prince Albert of Monaco. After the lots were bidding on, reaping in $1.7 million dollars for the charitable organization, Dame Shirley Bassey took to the stage to one of her most classic songs, "Goldfinger".
