Anna Paquin Opens Up About Being Cut from The Last ‘X-Men’ Movie
While fans of Anna Paquin’s X-Men character Rogue were outraged that the superhero was cut from 2014’s Days of Future Past, the Academy Award-winning actress is taking the “making lemons into lemonade” approach to her diminished role.
During a recent interview with Yahoo Movies, Paquin, whose current animated movie The Good Dinosaur opened last month, revealed how it felt to be cut from such a high profile film.
”[While filming], I got to hang out with my friends for five days in Montreal, and see people I’ve known for two decades and go play,“ Paquin said. “Did it end up in the movie? No. Well, it was fun anyway.”
The former True Blood star’s optimistic attitude extended to Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer as Paquin voiced her support for the acclaimed filmmaker.
“He’s a talented visionary, and that’s why you have someone like that making those movies,” she continued. “If [my part] doesn’t actually fit into the final film — he’s not going to screw the movie because he’s going to hurt somebody’s feelings. We’re all big kids.”
While Paquin harbors no ill will towards the popular superhero franchise, she remains unsure about potentially reprising her role as Rogue in future films.
“I don’t know. I shot that when I was 16. I’m 33. If they’ve moved on as far as actors and casting choices and stories that they’re fascinated by, [it’s okay]. That was a lifetime ago for me.”
