Adele Explains Why She Decided Not To Include Songs About Her Son On 25.
To really appreciate Adele‘s music, you need to understand what went into writing her record-breaking album, 25.
During an interview with Time, Adele gave fans a fascinating peek behind the curtain by opening up about her choice to write about herself on the album. The singer said she originally considered writing about other subjects — like, for instance, her son. But after penning tracks about motherhood, she decided she didn’t want to share them with the public.
“I loved it,” Adele said. “For me, it was great. Better than 25. But he’s the light of my life—not anyone else’s.”
Adele also rejected the impulse to write about her relationship with Simon Konecki.
“We’re in a grownup, adult, mature relationship,” she said. “I didn’t want to write about us, because I didn’t want to make us feel uncomfortable.”
Only after discovering what she didn’t want to write about, did Adele unearth the perfect theme for 25.
“That’s when I decided to write about myself and how I make myself feel, rather than how other people make me feel,” Adele said. “It doesn’t matter how long it takes. You’re only as good as your next record.”
