It's often described as Hollywood's biggest party, and on Sunday night the 72nd Annual Golden Globe ceremony did its best to live up to its nickname, as film and TV royalty rubbed shoulders with critical faves and newcomers alike, all with access to an open bar.

The Golden Globe Award is an American accolade bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) recognizing excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. The annual formal ceremony and dinner at which the awards are presented is a major part of the film industry's awards season, which culminates each year with the Academy Awards.

The 72nd Golden Globe Awards, honoring the best in film and television for 2014, will be presented on January 11, 2015, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, where they have been held annually since 1961.
