Sylvester Stallone Is Not Part of 'Creed III'

Hollywoodreporter.com: Sylvester Stallone will not appear in the upcoming Creed III. Rumors of his absence had been swirling after he apparently responded to an Instagram user stating as much. Stallone's rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter he will not take part in the MGM boxing installment, but no additional explanation was offered.

Stallone reprised his iconic role of Rocky Balboa in the previous two films, as a mentor to Michael B. Jordan's character, Adonis "Donnie" Creed. Stallone's performance in 2015's Creed earned him an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor. That film was followed by Creed II, which released in November 2018. Both Creed films were box office and critical successes.

Creed III, directed by star Jordan in his directorial debut, is scheduled to be released on Nov. 23, 2022.

Still, Stallone fans have something to look forward to, as the actor recently announced his recut of Rocky IV is complete. “I’m feeling great about this," said Stallone in a social media post along with the announcement. The actor-director explained that the film was never completed to his satisfaction, so he was grateful to go back in order to deliver his vision.

The 1985 picture was a massive success and introduced audiences to Dolph Lundgren, who played the towering Ivan Drago, the Soviets' prize boxer. The film marked Carl Weathers' final physical appearance in the series.
