BTS' 'Map of the Soul: Persona' Eyes for No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart

hollywoodreporter.com: BTS is bound for No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with their latest release, Map of the Soul: Persona. Industry forecasters suggest the set, which was released on Friday, could earn between 200,000 and 225,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending April 18. If the album opens at No. 1, it will mark the third leader for the act, following 2018’s Love Yourself: Answer and Love Yourself: Tear.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the April 27-dated Billboard 200 chart (where Map of the Soul: Persona could debut at No. 1) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday.

BTS’ last album, Love Yourself: Answer, launched with 185,000 equivalent album units earned in its first week, according to Nielsen Music. The set bowed atop the list dated Sept. 8, 2018. Of that sum, 141,000 were in album sales. It’s likely that BTS’ new album will be powered largely by album sales, as well. Other releases aiming for notable bows on next week’s chart include Anderson .Paak’s Ventura, Aaron Lewis’ State I’m In, Danny Gokey’s Haven’t Seen It Yet, LSD’s Labrinth, Sia & Diplo Present… LSD, Melissa Etheridge’s Medicine Show and Norah Jones’ Begin Again.
