Diala Makki Attends the UNICEF summer Gala

Porto Cervo, ITALY, August 10, 2018 - UNICEF Italia and LuisaViaRoma hosted the first UNICEF Summer Gala last night in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, a charity event to support UNICEF’s activities to protect children’s rights worldwide.

Diala Makki was the only Arab press/personality representing Dubai TV and the region. On her attendance Diala says: “It is evenings and events like that that remind me of why I am passionate about my job. Every time I meet these amazing persons, every time I interview and research about these amazing organizations and persons like UNICEF Italy executive director Paolo Rozero, I get more determined to follow the path that is the closest to my heart and that is to use my voice and platforms to support cases that matter and that allow real change to real people who need all the support we can give.” Makki continues in her instagram post saying: “ I urge the fashion industry people to get more involved and socially responsible and show support and show that fashion can bring serious change if we gather towards these goals”.

Hosted in the magical Mediterranean atmosphere of Villa Violina, the unforgettable event featured a cocktail overlooking the sea, a gala dinner, an auction and after party. International celebrities, philanthropists and notable guests from all over the world attended the night and helped to raise 3.4 million euros to sustain UNICEF.

The Gala’s Chairs included Alessandra Ambrosio, Mohammed Al Turki, Georgia Fowler, Martha Hunt, Leonardo Del Vecchio, Ray Liotta, David Mimran, Nadine Leopold, Emily Ratajkowski, Michelle Rodriguez, Jasmine Sanders & Terrence J., Sara Sampaio, Shanina Shaik, Caroline Scheufele, Josephine Skriver, Miles Teller & Keleigh Sperry, Noonoouri, Tommaso Chiabra, and Jasmine Tookes.

The incredible performances by pop-music icon and UNICEF GoodWill Ambassador Ricky Martin, Rita Ora and Sofia Carson entertained the crowd during the dinner, while an incredible live auction conducted by Alexander Gilkes included a unique Fiat 500 Riva exclusive edition donated by Riva Cantieri, a collection of gowns by Siran, artworks by renowned artists such as Francis Bacon, Pablo Picasso, RETNA, photographs of Marilyn Monroe by Douglas Kirkland, Andy Warhol by Christopher Makos, unique experiences including racing cars with Hollywood actress Michelle Rodriguez and an exclusive Copenhagen visit with Mads Mikkelsen and Pilou Asbaek and pieces of jewelry including a Chopard diamond necklace.

The after party included sets by international DJs DJ Ruckus and DJ Luciano. The event, hosted by Paolo Rozera, UNICEF Italia Executive Director; Andrea Panconesi, LuisaViaRoma CEO & Founder, and Tommaso Chiabra, Fundraising Chairman, saw the attendance of performers such as Ricky Martin, Rita Ora, Sofia Carson, DJ Ruckus, DJ Luciano, as long as appearance of Afef Jnifen, Angela Missoni, Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Caroline Daur, Caroline Scheufele, Cindy Bruna, Diana Picasso, Emily Ratajkowski, Gina Lollobrigida, Heidi Klum, Jasmine Sanders, Jasmine Tookes, Jordan Barrett, Lorena Rae, Margherita Missoni, Michelle Rodriguez, Nicole Scherzinger, Shanina Shaik, Sofia Resing, among the others.
