Japanese Film Wins at Cannes Film Festival 2018
Reuters.com: Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda, whose film "Shoplifters" ("Manbiki Kazoku") won the Cannes Film Festival's top Palme d'Or prize on Saturday (May 19), said he realised his film had "something special" from the moment it was screened.
"I'm very happy, to tell the truth, I can't get over it. I'm having trouble believing it. But particularly in this film, I really felt like we did a good job, both with the technical team and above all with the actors. I already felt like something had happened when we made the film, so I'm very happy that it's this film in particular that has won the prize," he told Reuters.
