Hollywood Walk of Fame Will Honor Dwayne Johnson with Star

Etonline.com: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will soon be immortalized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Johnson has gone from being one of the biggest names in professional wrestling to one of the biggest names in all of show business, and his meteoric, hard-earned rise to superstardom will soon be recognized with the greatest honor Hollywood can give out.

The Jumanji star will be receiving the time-honored tribute next week in a ceremony recognizing his contributions to the motion picture industry and status as an international megastar.

Johnson was the world's highest earning actor of 2016 and the second-highest earning actor this year, having netted $65 million, according to Forbes. His films have grossed nearly $3 billion at the box office.

"Not only does Dwayne have a great personality and talent, but he also does a great amount of philanthropic work, which is part of the criteria for earning an immortal spot on the Walk of Fame," Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies, said in the announcement posted by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

"Everyone loves Dwayne Johnson! We predict that his star will be a very popular one to visit on our famous walk," Martinez added.

The ceremony is set to kick off at 11:30 p.m. PT at 6801 Hollywood Blvd., in front of the Hollywood and Highland complex, on Dec. 13.

Among the Moana star's multiple charitable endeavors, he created The Rock Foundation in 2006, which aims to educate and enrich the lives of children battling illness and disabilities, and to empower children through physical fitness programs and nutrition education initiatives.

As a superstar, Johnson has also managed to remain humble and dedicated to his fans. Earlier this year, he took to Instagram to share a story about his emotional encounter with one fan who was crying over the opportunity to meet the action star.

"When he hugged me he was shaking and giving that loud grown man cry. Not only will I never forget this day, but stuff like this will always be the best part of fame," the Fate of the Furious star captioned the heartfelt post. Check out the video below to hear more.
