Khaleejtimes.com: The Dubai Police is set to launch a first-of-its-kind electronic game 'Friends of the Police' which is aimed at protecting members of the society from potential risks, while raising their awareness.

Major general Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police for criminal investigation affairs, gave a go-ahead to ??the idea. Its study was approved by Brigadier Salem Al Rumaithi, director of the general department of criminal investigation.

The game will be introduced as a smart application in coordination with the general department of smart services of Dubai Police and a number of other stakeholders.

Sheikha Al Abdouli, head of awareness section at anti-crime department, said that the e-game spreads awareness and uses Dubai's modern luxury cars and motorcycles to drive home many messages." She added that the game consists of a group of friends who can play it together and work to search and nab a criminal.

During the search operation, the players face a set of questions that tests their awareness regarding traffic rules and norms. The players have to reach a certain goal. The more they follow the rules and instructions, the more they increase their chances of scoring points in the game, which helps them win.

Al Abdouli pointed out that the game also offers an opportunity to players to receive prizes in kind, as well as participation certificates and a visit to the Dubai Police department.

Al Abdouli said that this e-game was the first launched by any police department around the world. It aims at educating and entertaining the kids and youth as well as develop a sense of security among them. It is a way of interaction between the community and the police.

She added it gives information about the police patrols and how to deal with them. It also enlightens the players on a host of traffic laws and regulations. She explained that a competent committee shall complete all procedures with the help of authorities concerned to roll out the game. All legal procedures required for the launch of the game have been completed, she added.
