Nominees For 2017 Emmy Awards

mediaexpress.reuters.com: Nominations for the 69th Emmy Awards have been announced and British royal series "The Crown" is one of seven television shows vying for the top prize, best drama series. Starring best actress nominee Claire Foy, the show will compete against: "Better Call Saul," which also garnered a best actor nod for Bob Odenkirk; "The Handmaid's Tale" with best actress nominee Elisabeth Moss; "House of Cards" which earned nods for Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright; "Stranger Things" which garnered a supporting nod for Millie Bobby Brown; "This Is Us," which took nods for Sterling K. Brown among others; and "Westworld," which earned Anthony Hopkins a nomination.

On the comedy side, frontrunner "Veep" will try to take the prize for the third straight year. It will face strong competition from the likes of the new millennial hip-hop show "Atlanta" and family racial comedy "black-ish."

And from the big screen to the small screen - movie stars had a strong presence in this year's nominations. Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon got nods for "Big Little Lies;" Robert De Niro was represented for his role in "The Wizard of Lies;" Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin each garnered nods for "Grace and Frankie," and Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon received dueling nominations for their roles as Joan Crawford and Bette Davis in "Feud."

The Emmy awards will be presented at a ceremony in Los Angeles on September 17.
