Angelina Jolie Visits Female Refugees in Kenya

mediaexpress.reuters.com: Angelina Jolie met with young refugees as part of her visit to Kenya to mark World Refugee Day.

"It is a day when we at UNHCR ask everyone to stop and consider all the displaced people around the world" said Jolie, a Special Envoy for the United Nations Refugee Agency. "65 million people, the absolute majority living in low or middle income countries dealing with conflict or crisis or economic challenges of their own".

Many of the young girls Jolie met with from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), South Sudan, Somalia, Burundi, and Rwanda had suffered sexual or gender-based violence and shared their stories with the Special Envoy.

The trip marked Jolie's third visit to Kenya, home to nearly 491,000 refugees.
