Nadim Nemr Crowned As The Fashion Star Season Two Winner
Renowned international designer Reem Acra has named Nadeem Nemr as the winner of the second season of ‘Fashion Star’ – the first Arab reality show to uncover elite Arab designers – following fierce competition between the four contestants in the final episode. Alongside Reem Acra on the panel of judges were Hanaa Ben Abd El Salam, Tunisian international fashion model and ambassador for Lancôme France, and Ramzi Tabiat, Creative Director of renowned retail brand Al Ostoura. The judges were joined by Tunisian presenter Leila Ben Khalifa and Namshi.com representative Garth Allan.
At the beginning of the episode, which was aired on Wednesday 3rd May and witnessed a host of surprises, the contestant’s most beautiful designs of the season were displayed, before Reem Acra announced the final challenge. The challenge – ‘Jet Set’ – required the contestants to create six designs to capture the red carpet lifestyle of celebrities around the world.
Before returning to face the challenge, the four contestants – Tatyana Aceeva from Jordan, Nadeem Nemr from Lebanon, Samar Nasr El Din from KSA and Joyce Saadeh from Lebanon – spent a day relaxing at Atlantis The Palm in Dubai. Following the death of her father, Tatyana Aceeva made the difficult decision to continue in the competition when her husband and daughter made a surprise visit and encouraged her to pursue her fashion dreams.
At the beginning of the episode, Reem Acra presented her spring and summer 2017 collections, as well as an exclusive presentation of her new collection for autumn 2017. As soon as the challenge was underway, Reem Acra’s focus was on the contestants as she oversaw their designs and offered advice to help them through the final episode.
Saudi contestant Samar Nasr El-Din was the first to present her final designs, which impressed the jury, with Reem Acra describing them as “ideal and appropriate” as well as illustrative of the designer’s bold new identity. Lebanese contestant Nadeem Nemr followed, with designs that Reem Acra praised as distinguished in terms of ideas, colours and the way they captured the concept of the challenge in an “out of the box” fashion that preserved the designer’s creative identity.
The Jordanian contestant Tatyana Aceeva presented her new collection in the presence of her husband and daughter Leah. The jury was impressed by her courage and determination to pursue her fashion journey, as well as her exceptional designs, which were characterised by simplicity and a clear ability to reflect ideas. Lebanese contestant Joyce Saadeh followed with designs that were light, novel and colorful.
Leila bint Khalifa invited the four contestants to face the members of the jury – Reem Acra, Henna Ben Abdel Salam and Ramzi Tabiat. Reem Acra finally named Nadeem Nemr as the winner of ‘Fashion Star’ Season Two, along with an exceptional cash prize of AED 300,000. In addition to this unique opportunity to become a global fashion star, Nadeem’s collection also sold for AED 450,000 exclusively through the Namshi.com website.
