King Kong Invades New York

mediaexpress.reuters.com: The giant ape is part of a new experience at Madame Tussauds in New York, which was unveiled on Tuesday (March 7) along with the first-ever wax figure of actor Tom Hiddleston.

"He's dressed in a costume from the film. He'll be very recognizable to you once you've seen the film. And really truly fitting for the space itself with its jungle theme and bamboo walls everywhere. He really fits in. He's clearly here for the right adventure," said Eric Fluet, head of marketing and sales, Madame Tussauds New York.



Complete with a bamboo jungle and a base camp, the space is a replica Skull Island from the soon to be released film, "Kong: Skull Island." The animatronic King Kong head is the largest Madame Tussauds has ever created standing two-stories tall.

"It's size and scale is true to the actually mythical Kong himself if he were standing here. When he roars -- because he'll roar, snarl, grunt, his eyes will follow you around the space -- but when he roars it's 90 db, which is equally to a 737 Boeing coming in for a landing."

The experience will be open at Madame Tussuads New York indefinitely and "Kong: Skull Island" will be released in U.S. theaters on March 10.
