Joel McHale: Host Of 2017 People's Choice Awards

Eonline.com: Joel McHale has been chosen to host the 2017 People's Choice Awards.

"The people have spoken, and they want Jimmy Kimmel to host the 2017 Oscars! And the people have also spoken, and said that it would be OK if I hosted the 2017 People's Choice Awards," the 45-year-old Great Indoors actor told E! News in statement Monday. "Well, one person said that. Luckily, that person was [CBS' CEO] Les Moonves, so no one questioned it."

Mark Burnett, who is executive producing the show, added, "Joel is a brilliant comedic talent, and the perfect host for this show. He is a triple threat. An actor, a writer and a performer, and we look forward to him bringing all those amazing talents to the 2017 People's Choice Awards."

McHale, who hosted The Soup for 12 seasons on E! from 2004 to 2015, previously hosted the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in 2014, as well as the ESPY Awards in 2015.

Nominations were announced Nov. 15. Voting has closed for most categories; it will remain open on its website until show night for Favorite New TV Comedy and Favorite New TV Drama.

McHale's freshman series, CBS' The Great Indoors, received its first nomination in the Favorite New TV Comedy category. The hit show is up against ABC's American Housewife, NBC's The Good Place, CBS' Kevin Can Wait, CBS' Man With a Plan, FOX's Son of Zorn and ABC's Speechless.

The 43rd People's Choice Awards will be broadcast live on CBS from inside L.A.'s Microsoft Theater on Jan. 18, 2017, at 9 p.m. Captain America: Civil War leads with seven nominations.
