Al Sufouh Street in Dubai renamed after Saudi King Salman

Al Sufouh Street in Dubai was renamed after King Salman of Saudi Arabia, on the orders of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. The announcement came on Wednesday – the kingdom’s 86th national day – and ¬reflects "the historically strong relations between the UAE and the kingdom of ¬Saudi Arabia and recognises the kingdom’s vision and role in enhancing solidarity ¬between Arab nations," Dubai Media Office said.

Sheikh Hamdan bin ¬Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, unveiled the sign during a ceremony in the presence of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Dr Mohammed Al Bishr, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

The road is one of the most vital thoroughfares in Dubai, passing through economic zones such as Dubai Internet and Dubai Media cities, and is the location of prominent landmarks including the Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina.

It runs from Umm Suqeim Street in the north to Garn Al Sabkha Street in the south, parallel to the waterfront. The six-lane street has a capacity of 4,500 vehicles per hour in each direction and features the Dubai Tram.
