Missing Sharjah boy found murdered in Dubai
24/5/2016_ 7days.ae Police officials said Obaida Ibrahim, 7, was snatched by a family friend on Friday evening and strangled after fighting off an attempted sex attack by his abductor.
General Khamis Mattar Al Muzaina, director of Dubai Police, said Obaida’s body was found dumped under a tree in the Al Warqa area of Dubai on Sunday.
Obaida had last been seen playing outside his father’s car business at 7.30pm on Friday near to their family home in Sharjah Industrial Area 8.
His disappearance sparked a frantic search with the family “driving around for hours” looking for him.
However, police revealed that he had been snatched and they confirmed they have arrested a 48-year-old Jordanian man on suspicion of murder.
“We suspected the killer as he changed his residence after the incident and we arrested him,” Al Muzaina said.
“His name is Nedal Issa Abdullah.
“The killer confessed that he lured the boy to come with him to buy a scooterboard and he took him to a car park in Mamzar,” Al Muzaina added.
“He drank alcohol and then wanted to have sex with the boy who started yelling at him.
“He confessed that he strangled him with a scarf and continued to consume alcohol until 5am on Saturday.
After two hours he went to near Academic City and dumped the body.”
